About Race Equality First

Race Equality First is the lead body in Wales for tackling racial discrimination and hatred and promoting the message that Equality is a human right. Established in 1976, REF is the only Race Equality Council in Wales and only one of four remaining Race Equality Councils in the UK.

Race Equality First has been operating for 47 years providing advice, advocacy and support for people from ethnic minority communities to tackle inequalities, discrimination, racism and hate crime. It assists with issues around health and social care; housing; welfare benefits; basic needs; family disputes; safety and community support and provide a discrimination and hate crime casework service to support victims through complaints processes, mediation, tribunals and civil court and helping people to complain effectively in order to seek early resolution.
