Weekly day trips

Each Wednesday, between September 2024 and March 2025, we will take unpaid carers, with or without the people they are caring for, on an excursion which enhances wellbeing and strengthens relationships and friendships.

Using the GFG minibus, and supported by our volunteers, we will visit places such as St Fagan’s, Pughs Garden Centre, Brecon, Raglan Castle, Libanus Visitor Centre in Bannau Brycheiniog, Blaenavon Iron works, Caerphilly Castle, Tintern Abbey, Hay-on-Wye, Cardiff Bay, Margam Park Christmas light etc. The minibus seats 16 which is the maximum number for each trip. Carers will be able to choose their preferred trips and we will be responsive to suggestions. We will rotate participants and prioritise those carers who are most isolated and in most need of support.

All trips are free. Meet at the Gellideg Wellbeing Centre, Merthyr Tydfil. Contact us to secure your place.

Monthly Afternoon Teas

The second Friday of every month we are holding a free Afternoon Tea for carers, with or without those they are caring for, at the Wellbeing Centre, Gellideg, Merthyr Tydfil. The Centre is fully accessible with a lift, disabled toilets and level surfaces. The Afternoon Teas will start with board games, and be followed by sandwiches and cakes, teas, coffees and a quiz. Each Afternoon Tea can accommodate up to 35 people. Volunteers  assist with baking the home made cakes and serving the teas. Each tea is from 1pm to 3pm. Contact us to secure your place.

Theatre trips at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff

We have a partnership with the Millennium Centre in Cardiff, including wheelchair spaces, to see fabulous shows. Between September and March we are hoping to secure tickets to see: Grease the Musical, Wicked, Hamilton, Ghost the Musical, and Calamity Jane. These outings give everyone a huge boost. We are able to take 16 people per trip for free. The minibus will pick up and bring back to the Wellbeing Centre in Gellideg, Merthyr Tydfil. Contact us to secure your place.
